Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. told us he was on track to play this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers, and he looks to be correct.
Head coach Zac Taylor opened his Wednesday presser saying he expects Brown to practice and provided added encouragement towards his status.
"He's probably progressing better than we thought he would last week." Taylor said of Brown, whom has been dealing with a groin injury for the past two weeks.
Any positive injury update from Taylor means exactly what it means. He usually strays from giving too much away regarding his players coming back from injury, so this is a good sign for Brown to play Sunday.
The Bengals got together for a light practice on Monday following their bye week, and now begin their normal week of work leading up to Sunday's game out in Santa Clara.
Officially, Brown was limited in his first practice back, and was the only Bengals player with that distinction. Linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) was the lone non-participant. Davis-Gaither has been out since suffering his injury in Week 3.
Defensive tackle Josh Tupou (toe) and linebacker Devin Harper (hamstring) were each labeled as full participants.
Starters Tee Higgins (rib) and Chidobe Awuzie (back) were not listed on the injury report at all, signifying zero limitations for them in their first practice back from the bye. Both Higgins and Awuzie were playing through their respective ailments in Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Awuzie has normally been given a rest day this season, so that can be expected for Friday.
