It goes without saying that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has a lot riding on Super Bowl LVIII.

Unparalleled greatness, legacy, and a step closer to becoming the unquestioned GOAT are all on the table with a Chiefs victory.

But there's also a pretty hefty contract inventive that no one is talking about, yet is a nice piece of added motivation:

$1.25 Million Reasons

Patrick Mahomes' $8.6M 2024 base salary will increase by $1.25M to $9.85M if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl since his offensive playtime during the regular season was at least 50% (93%). –Joel Carry CBS Sports

If you're wondering why that number seems so low, it's because it is. In an age where QBs like Daniel Jones go for $40m APY, Mahomes is a bargain that even Flea Market Flip would be proud of.

Now, Mahomes heavy cap hit kicks in down the road, as his base salary balloons to over $45 million in 2026. And as the face of the league with plenty of commercials and endorsements going around, Mahomes' revenue stream is doing just fine.

But a little added motivation never hurts, especially when it comes via a million dollars.
