Carrie Underwood returns for 13th consecutive season of Sunday Night Football
Sunday Night Football’s iconic introduction will remain the same for the 13th straight year.
It’s not Sunday Night Football without Carrie Underwood.
Hearing her sing, “waiting all day for Sunday night,” has become an iconic part of the NFL season, as football fans listen to this before every primetime game on football fans’ favorite day of the weekend.
On Wednesday, NBC announced that Underwood would be back for the 13th consecutive season to sing the opening number. The network reported that “Underwood performed the new show open for primetime’s No. 1 show at The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas.”
“For the 20th season of SNF, we wanted to set the tone for the night by reimagining the anthem sound in a way that plays to Carrie’s powerhouse vocals, while visually creating a seamless blend of stylized shots and behind-the-scenes moments evoking the national roadshow that is Sunday Night Football, week after week in the fall,” Tripp Dixon, who is the creative director of the SNF show open for each of the past 13 years, said in a statement.
Underwood also commented on the exciting news.
“We had a blast shooting the new opening at The Resorts World Theatre again,” she said, per NBC. “As always, Tripp and the creative team continue to raise the bar, bringing the high energy and stunning visuals that the Sunday Night Football audience has come to expect year after year. I can’t wait for the world to see it!”
Fans will get to hear this opening number on Sunday, Sept. 7, when the Baltimore Ravens face off against the Buffalo Bills in week 1 of the 2025 NFL Season.
