The LSU Tigers continue to absolutely dominate late into the summer on the recruiting trail. Some fans were skeptical on Brian Kelly’s recruiting build when he missed out on another high pedigree quarterback early this summer and only won two blue chip recruiting battles in June, but his staff has completely turned the ship around.
LSU has now compiled 18 high pedigree commits for the 2026 recruiting cycle and just capped off their defensive line this weekend with two huge wins, locking in the best DL group in the country.
Deuce Geralds, 4 star DL commits to LSU giving Tigers best DL in the 2026 recruiting class
The LSU Tigers already had five star defensive tackle recruits Lamar Brown (top five player in the nation) and Richard Anderson (top 50 player in the nation) committed heading into the month of August. That would have been good enough for most defensive line recruiting classes. Not LSU.
LSU kicked things off by landing the younger brother of Dominick McKinley (the anchor of this season’s Tigers DL), Darryus McKinley. Then just a day later top 100 overall recruit in the country Deuce Geralds committed to LSU as well.
Geralds, a versatile star defensive tackle from the state of Georgia, chose the Tigers over Oregon, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Michigan.
While Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson look like the typical deep-interior defensive linemen (0-4i tech types), Deuce Geralds figures to play the hybrid defensive tackle and defensive end role that spreads his reps all over the LSU front. Essentially Geralds can play like Paris Shand and Sai’vion Jones did for the Tigers throughout the past two seasons, except he’s far more athletic than either one.
This hyper-productive do-everything kind of defensive line prospect racked up an insanely impressive 114 tackles (30+ for loss) and double digit sacks last fall as he solidified his elite blue chip recruit status. He can carry the ball as a running back. He can do just about anything a defense asks him to do up front. Geralds is simply put an athletic freak who should become an immediate game-changing talent for LSU as early as his true freshman year.
If LSU continues to recruit this level of talent along their defensive front there’s no way they have issues with mobile quarterbacks (like they did all last season) for too long. Geralds should be able to chase most quarterbacks down himself.
