Jeremiah Smith makes a surprising admission that few will expect—and it helps illustrate his rapid rise at Ohio State
Jeremiah Smith just may be one of one at this point for the Buckeyes.
Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List dropped on Monday, and that means college football is getting closer by the day.
Ohio State opens the season with a marquee matchup against Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns—a tough test right out of the gate.
When the Buckeyes take on Texas, they’ll need the No. 1 player on Feldman’s Freaks List to step up in a major way.
Jeremiah Smith makes a surprising admission as he lands No. 1 on the Freaks List
Smith dominated college football last season with over 1,300 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He scored five touchdowns during the College Football Playoff—though Texas was the lone opponent he didn’t find the end zone against.
Since arriving at Ohio State, Smith has turned into an athletic specimen. He told Feldman that the physical trait he’s most proud of is his 20 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
“I’m very proud of that,” Smith said, via The Athletic. “I could probably only hit like five before I got to Ohio State. I came in weak.”
The idea of Smith being “weak” is hard to imagine now. The Chaminade-Madonna product has fully embraced Ohio State’s strength program and has taken his nutrition more seriously entering Year 2.
Ohio State will once again need Smith to be a superstar if they’re going to reach their lofty goals in 2025. He’s the Buckeyes’ best player and the likely offensive catalyst—especially in a Week 1 showdown with Texas.
After recording just one catch for three yards against the Longhorns in last year’s CFP semifinal, Smith is looking to make a much bigger impact in this rematch.
