Baylor School (Tenn.) running back David Gabriel-Georges is one of the most electrifying playmakers in the 2027 recruiting class. And now, the rising star is picking up right where he left off in 2024.
In a Tuesday scrimmage against Maryville (Tenn.), Gabriel-Georges was seen taking on all comers – literally. On one play, the 6-foot, 205 pound prospect takes the outside zone handoff to the left, but is quickly surrounded by defenders.
Not to worry as the Ontario, Canada native made essentially the entire defense look silly – evading tacklers, breaking through arms, and scampering for a touchdown. The Maryville defense isn’t just some high school defense either. The Rebels program has won 17 state titles – including one three-peat (2001, 2002, 2003) and even a four-peat (2010-2014).
David Gabriel-George has rapidly gained national attention for his explosive athleticism.
The rising junior has a tough-nose running style which pairs nicely with his ability to erase defenders in open space with either a juke or power. Despite playing high school football north of the border, Gabriel-Georges has proven he belongs among the best in the United States with a breakout sophomore season.
With former teammate and current Ole Miss Rebel, Shekai Mills-Knight, limited due to injury, Gabriel-Georges took over for the Raiders. In 2024, he ran for 1,103 yards on 114 carries with 14 touchdowns in 10 games en route to being named Tennessee’s Mr. Football in Division II-AAA.
The Tennessee recruit holds offers from just about everyone in the Power 4.
But, a few are sticking out early ahead of his 2025 season. Programs like Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse, and Tennessee are hoping to host Gabriel-Georges for game day visits this season. But, in a recent conversation with Rivals’ Chad Simmons, he revealed he is taking his time and then some.
“I want to take my time and go through my official visits before making any decisions,” he said. “Education is the biggest thing for me and my family. Life after football matters. Relationships with coaches and how they see me in their offense—those things are important, too.
“There’s still a lot I want to see and learn. I’m not in a rush—I’m just trusting the process.”
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing David Gabriel-Georges in person. It’s a spectacle, to say the least.
He is the kind of runner who turns routine plays into highlights. His vision is already trending towards elite – finding cutback lanes, showing patience, accelerating through traffic, and possesses the short space quickness to change direction without losing speed.
In the four games I have seen him play in, defenders rarely get a clean shot on him. Whether he’s juking a linebacker at the point of attack or turning the corner, Gabriel-Georges has a natural ability to create yards after contact and break games wide open.
Rivals ranks Gabriel-Georges as the No. 30 overall prospect in the 2027 class. He is also listed as the 3rd-ranked running back in the country and Tennessee’s No. 1 recruit.
