After Tuesday’s practice, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen addressed the team’s preseason struggles and the possible return of former teammate Gabe Davis. The Bills quarterback was asked about his thoughts on a potential reunion and if he knew the team was bringing Davis in. A lot of love was evident toward his former teammate, which had him grinning ear to ear with his response to the media.

“No, I love Gabe,” Allen said. “I’m sure I’ll see him over the next day or two. Happy to see him. Love that guy. He was awesome when he was here, and now he’s getting back to full health here soon. So, who knows, we’ll see.”

Gabe Davis’ tenure in Buffalo

During his career in Buffalo, the veteran hauled in 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games. Coach Sean McDermott on Tuesday shared that while the No. 1 through No. 3 positions on the depth chart are secured, they’re still looking for answers to fill out the room. When asked about their current relationship, Allen got a little more personal.

“We really haven’t stopped being in contact since he left,” Allen said.

Multiple former teammates have talked about how Allen has maintained communication even after they’ve left the team, showing he’s a consummate professional on and off the football field.

That’s when the topic of the ugly preseason matchup came to light. The former MVP kept everything in perspective, highlighting how the lopsided defeat to the Bears was reminiscent of the 2024 preseason, when the Bills also lost in a lopsided affair.

Josh Allen weighs in on preseason blowout loss

“I think we don’t want to see the Bears in the preseason,” Allen said. “They kicked out butt, too. Take it with a grain of salt. Watching the film, it’s never as bad or good as you think it is. Trying to correct things. We don’t gameplan much in the preseason here.”

It’s the preseason, so we need to temper our expectations. That’s not to say that the team was without its flaws, and Allen portrayed that perfectly.

“We just ask that guys go out there and put their best stuff on the field,” Allen said. “I don’t know if we did that as a whole unit. But again, that’s why we play the preseason, that’s why we’re doing joint practices to try different things to figure out what guys can and can’t do and what we can and can’t do as an offense. Figure out what we’re good at and what we’re not good at.”

There was a lot to be desired in almost all facets of the game, and he shared how the team can use this as fuel to achieve great things.

“Every experience is a learning experience,” Allen added. “It’s preseason at the end of the day. I’m sure people are making a big deal out of it, but we’re using that as an opportunity to get better.”

With McDermott and the front office needing to finalize their 53-man roster in the coming days, a reunion with Davis has sparked debates across social media circles. At the end of the day, it’s all love, and we wouldn’t be opposed to a reunion. It looks like Allen wouldn’t be either.
