Final Cleveland Browns 53-man Roster Prediction: The quarterback decision is weighing heavy on Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry

It is about that time where the Browns make a ton of roster moves.

The Cleveland Browns have wrapped up their 2025 preseason with a perfect 3-0 record following a win over the Los Angeles Rams Cleveland will turn their attention to roster cuts after they game, where they must trim down from 90 players to 53 ahead of the Tuesday, Aug. 26 deadline.

With the preseason finished, here’s one final prediction of what the Browns’ initial 53-man roster could look like.

Quarterback (4)

On the 53-man roster: Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders, Kenny Pickett

Cut: Tyler Huntley

IR: Deshaun Watson

Cleveland does something you rarely see: keeping four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Pickett’s limited participation in training camp hurt his trade value, so for now, the Browns carry an overly full QB room.

Running back (3)

On the 53-man roster: Jerome Ford, Dylan Sampson, Pierre Strong Jr.

Cut: Ahmani Marshall, Trayveon Williams

The Browns still haven’t signed Quinshon Judkins, and there’s no clear timeline on when that may happen. Ford and the rookie Sampson serve as the top two backs, while Strong provides familiar depth.

Wide receiver (6)

On the 53-man roster: Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash, Isaiah Bond, Kaden Davis, Gage Larvadain

Cut: Diontae Johnson, DeAndre Carter, Kieran Johnson, Cade McDonald, David Bell

Cleveland’s receiver room still carries plenty of question marks. Bond is a recent addition with a locked-in spot, and undrafted standout Larvadain has earned a roster spot with his preseason play. The Browns will need Tillman, Thrash, or both to take a step forward this season.

Tight end (2)

On the 53-man roster: David Njoku, Harold Fannin Jr.

Cut: Blake Whiteheart, Brenden Bates, Sal Cannella, Mitch Van Vooren

Keeping four quarterbacks forces sacrifices elsewhere, and tight end is one of them. The Browns should be able to stash a third tight end on the practice squad while the QB situation sorts itself out.

Offensive line (10)

On the 53-man roster: Dawand Jones, Joel Bitonio, Ethan Pocic, Wyatt Teller, Jack Conklin, Zak Zinter, Cornelius Lucas, Luke Wypler, Teven Jenkins, Jackson Barton

Cut: Javion Cohen, Jason Ivey, Sebastian Gutierrez, Lorenzo Thompson, Bucky Williams

Not many question marks here. Wypler has solidified himself as the backup (and possible future) center, while Zinter looks poised to take a second-year step forward. The addition of Jenkins adds veteran stability.

Defensive line (9)

On the 53-man roster: Myles Garrett, Maliek Collins, Mason Graham, Isaiah McGuire, Alex Wright, Shelby Harris, Adin Huntington, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Sam Kamara

Cut: Ralph Holley, Cameron Thomas, K.J. Henry

IR: Mike Hall Jr.

Hall is expected to miss the first four games as he works back from injury, but this remains Cleveland’s deepest position group. Undrafted free agent Huntington making the roster is a pleasant surprise.

Linebackers (5)

On the 53-man roster: Carson Schwesinger, Mohamoud Diabate, Devin Bush, Jerome Baker, Winston Reid

Cut: Easton Macarena-Arnold

IR: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Nathaniel Watson

Cleveland has already lost two linebackers for the season, but position coach Jason Tarver has consistently gotten strong play from this group. Schwesinger will wear the green dot, while the rest of the unit rotates heavily.

Cornerbacks (5)

On the 53-man roster: Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome II, Myles Harden, Cameron Mitchell, Tony Brown, LaMareon James

Cut: LaMareon James, Darius Rush, Dom Jones, Chigozie Anusiem

IR: Martin Emerson Jr.

Losing Emerson was a blow, forcing Newsome back to the outside. The key here will be health and whether Harden or Mitchell can step up in the slot.

Safety (6)

On the 53-man roster: Grant Delpit, Ronnie Hickman, Rayshawn Jenkins, Nik Needham, Donovan McMillon, Damontae Kazee

Cut: Chris Edmonds

Hickman will get his chance to start alongside Delpit, with multiple veterans behind him for depth. McMillon, another undrafted free agent, also earns a spot. Needham is an option to be the slot cornerback.

Special teams (3)

On the 53-man roster: Andre Szmyt, Corey Bojorquez, Rex Sunahara

Cut: Dustin Hopkins

The only competition was at kicker, and Hopkins enters the season as the starter unless the Browns make an outside move.
