Jaguars roster cut tracker: Following all of the moves Jacksonville makes to get from 90 players to 53
The Jacksonville Jaguars are now trying to cut their roster down from 90 players to 53 before the start of the regular season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars just finished their final preseason game of the 2025 season against the Miami Dolphins, and now it’s time to cut their roster down from 90 players to 53, just like the rest of the NFL has to. So, it’s time for a roster cut tracker.
This is a new regime for the Jaguars, which isn’t something we have said in a few years, considering former general manager Trent Baalke was with the Jaguars since 2021, and Doug Peterson was the head coach for the last few years, too. But, having a new regime comes with the fact that we have no idea who or what the Jaguars will do, because we don’t really know their tendencies when it comes to new head coach Liam Coen and new GM James Gladstone, in collaboration.
It’s going to be new for everyone, and there are a ton of great players on this roster, guys that should make the roster any other year, but have some guys ahead of them that are even better. And, most of the time when that happens, those players get signed to other team’s 53-man rosters. That will be a common theme this offseason for the Jaguars.
It will be interesting to see the types of players that Coen prefers over some. It will be interesting to see how he and Gladstone collaborate on some of these decisions, and then what the roster looks like to start the season. Coen is a first time he’d coach, so this is really his first time having to do this as the head decision maker, and the exact same thing can be said for Gladstone when it comes to being a GM.
So, this is huge, and yet, we have no idea what will happen. After that, next year, if this regime is still together, we can get a much better idea of what to expect after the 2026 preseason.
