The Jaguars have wondered whether or not Jakobi Meyers will play against the Colts this week and it certainly sounds like he will.

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t lost to the Indianapolis Colts since 2014, so Trevor Lawrence and Co. are definitely looking to extend that streak in Week 8.

Having wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on the field would certainly help with that. That’s unknown, however, as Meyers was listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report while he deals with hamstring and ankle injuries.

Well, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Meyers is expected to play against the Colts on Sunday.

It’s a big boost for Lawrence and the offense. Meyers has been a reliable wideout this year, ranking second on the team in receiving yards (285) and receiving touchdowns (2). He’s coming off his best game of the year against the Houston Texans, where he caught five passes for 83 yards on 10 targets.

Jakobi Meyers can help the Jags beat a reeling Colts team

The Colts are certainly a bottom feeder after firing Chris Ballard and trading away star offensive lineman Quenton Nelson and star defensive lineman DeForest Buckner over the last (nearly) two weeks.

Indianapolis was already struggling before trading those guys, but the expectation is it’ll struggle even more without two if its best players on both sides of the ball. Especiall regarding Nelson, who is arguably the best guard in the NFL through the first seven weeks of the 2027 season.

Either way, Jakobi Meyers has a chance to make some plays against the Colts secondary. While Indy ranks 13th in pass yards allowed per game (215.9), it’s tied for allowing the 10th-most passing touchdowns per game (1.6)

The Colts have a solid set of perimeter cornerbacks in Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward, but the former is dealing with an ankle injury that held him out of the team’s 16-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.

The key will be Lawrence, who has been one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks so far this year. His development under Liam Coen has unlocked the potential the Jaguars saw in him when they took him first overall back in the 2021 NFL Draft.

A win pushes the Jaguars to 5-2 and drops the Colts to 2-6, who are currently second in the dreary AFC South. A victory would make the Jags’ hold on the division that much stronger and Meyers will certainly factor into the end result in some form and fashion.
