The Philadelphia Eagles have made a handful of roster cuts ahead of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET cutdown deadline, including moving on from an undrafted free agent rookie who turned heads throughout training camp and the preseason.

According to NBC Sports’ Dave Zangaro, the Eagles waived rookie running back ShunDerrick Powell on Monday afternoon.

“The Eagles are waiving rookie RB ShunDerrick Powell, per source. Powell, who came from Central Arkansas, had some flashy moments this summer,” Zangaro reported via X/Twitter.

Powell was signed by the Eagles as a UDFA following the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished the preseason carrying the ball 10 times for 23 yards and a touchdown while adding one catch for two yards across three games.

Before making the jump to the NFL, Powell was a standout at Central Arkansas, rushing for 1,334 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024, including eight 100-yard performances while adding 318 yards and three touchdowns in the air.

Unfortunately, Powell’s journey for a spot on the 53-man roster was an uphill battle when it came to competing against Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and A.J. Dillon.

Not making the Eagles’ 53-man roster isn’t where Powell’s NFL journey ends. There’s a chance he could still thrive on another team, but if he clears waivers, the Eagles will likely bring him back on the practice squad.
