The Eagles will still have their hands full.

The Philadelphia Eagles will open the 2025 NFL season against the Dallas Cowboys, but for the first time in years, they won’t have to prepare to face one of the league’s most disruptive edge rushers.

That’s because the Cowboys traded two-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last week, which makes one less concern for Philly in their game planning.

However, Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo says there’s still plenty to prepare for, especially with defensive tackle Kenny Clark now in Dallas as part of the Cowboys’ trade for Parsons.

“I think when stuff like that happens, you’re going in with a plan specifically for people at times, but just your overall philosophy of going against their defense,” Patullo said. “So, when something like that happens, you kind of pivot a little bit, but they got a really good player in Kenny [Clark], and from there we just kind of keep with the game plan and looking at what they’re doing and going from there.”

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Clark has racked up 417 tackles and 35 sacks since entering the league in 2016. Last fall, played in all 17 games and recorded 37 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries, and three pass defenses. While those numbers might stand out, he isn’t too far removed from his eye-popping 2023 season when he racked up 64 total tackles and 14 sacks across 17 games.

In addition to stopping Clark, the Eagles will also have to worry about shutting down Osa Odighizuwa, Dante Fowler and Damone Clark.

With or without Parsons, it’s clear that Patullo faces a tough challenge in his offical debut as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, but he’s more than ready for it.

“I’m excited,” Patullo said. “I mean, it’s fun. It’s a huge opportunity, obviously, but it goes back to even in year one with [Head Coach] Nick [Sirianni] just working through all the situations and things that we’ve done together. I’ve been a part of so much of it, it doesn’t feel too much different, but it is exciting, and I think the guys feel good energy and they’re excited, too.”
