As expected, the Green Bay Packers will be without two starting offensive linemen against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night. Right tackle Zach Tom is out with an oblique injury, while left guard Aaron Banks won’t play because of ankle and groin injuries. They are officially inactive for the game at Lambeau Field.

Without them, the Packers are expected to start last year’s first-round rookie Jordan Morgan at left guard. While he has practiced primarily at left tackle and right guard throughout his NFL career, Morgan will start an NFL game for the second time, and it’s the second time at left guard—the first one was against the Detroit Lions in Week 9 of last season.

At right tackle, the projected starter was Darian Kinnard. Acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles for a sixth-round pick right before roster cuts, but the Packers will go with second-round rookie Anthony Belton. He played five snaps against the Lions.

The Packers elevated Brant Banks from the practice squad to give the offense more depth.

Positive update

Free agent addition Nate Hobbs, however, is officially active and will make his Packers debut. He’s recovered from a knee injury that led to a minor surgery in early August. Hobbs had practiced on a limited basis throughout the week and is now good to go. As expected, edge defender Micah Parsons is also active despite his back injury.

The Packers elevated seventh-round rookie Micah Robinson from the practice squad for gameday, but that’s a consequence of Bo Melton being out with a shoulder injury. Safety Zayne Anderson is also inactive with a knee issue.

Edge defender Brenton Cox Jr. was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, so he will miss at least the next four games—Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Cincinnati Bengals.
