Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver London Humpreys came in clutch with a game-tying catch during the team’s 44-41 overtime win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night.

Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton connected with Humpreys on a critical fourth-down 28-yard touchdown pass, cutting Tennessee’s fourth-quarter lead to 38-36. Stockton then followed it up by hitting wideout Zachariah Branch on the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 38-38.

Humphreys, who finished the win with two catches for 59 yards and one score, looked way better than he did last week against Austin Peay when he fumbled. Smart said he never punished him for that mistake, admitting he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.

“What a great kid,” Smart said.” I mean, guys, I’ve never met a kid as nice as him. I mean, he is just the most polite, best kid. I mean, he had the fumble last week, and he came over to me in the fourth quarter and was like, Coach, why didn’t you yell at me or cuss me out? And I was like, London, you’re just too nice. I was like, I couldn’t do it. I know that, I mean, he plays so hard on special teams. He’s from the state. You know, he’s playing at Vandy. He’s, I mean, you ought to hear him in meetings. He’s just so intelligent and so hard working that it could not have happened to a better guy.”

Humphreys Keeps His Monster Catch vs. Tennessee Trend Going

This isn’t the first time Humpreys has come up huge with a monster catch against Tennessee.

His best game last fall came in Georgia’s 31-17 win over Tennessee when he caught a pass that ultimately set the Dawgs up for a two-touchdown lead with just over two minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

Humphreys finished the 2024 season with 15 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 27.1 receiving yards per game for the Bulldogs.

Taking on a larger role this season, he’s currently hauled in eight catches for 96 yards and two scores through three games.
