I know that DK Metcalf has rightfully downplayed what this week means for him. He hasn’t admitted that facing the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him, will outweigh the need to win the Pittsburgh Steelers’ home opener.

Nonetheless, he will be extra motivated to face the team that just traded him this offseason. And coming into the week, the matchup to watch was going to be Metcalf against star corner Devon Witherspoon.

Well, after missing practice and being labeled doubtful, the top-flight corner for Seattle is inactive. Here is the full list for both teams.

Steelers Week 2 inactives

CB Joey Porter Jr.
S DeShon Elliott
G Max Scharping
G Andrus Peat
DE Esezi Otomewo
DT Derrick Harmon

Joey Porter Jr. is the most notable name on this list, but he was officially declared out by the team on Friday after missing all the full week of practice. Mike Tomlin was optimistic about him playing after exiting Week 1 early, but the Steelers tend to take soft tissue injuries very slow, especially hamstrings.

As for Elliott and Harmon, they were named out before practice even started this week with the two of them and Harrison nursing knee injuries. It also means that Jabrill Peppers will make his debut for Pittsburgh after being signed this week. He will wear No.40.

Seahawks Week 2 inactives

S Nick Emmanwori
QB Jalen Milroe (emergency 3rd QB)
CB Devon Witherspoon
LB Jared Ivey
LB Connor O’Toole
T/G Mason Richman
TE Nick Kallerup

Not only are the Seahawks down their top corner via Witherspoon, but rookie sensation Emmanwori will also miss the contest. It’s a couple of big blows for the backened in Seattle when you consider how well Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense played last week.
