Buffalo Bills lead the entire NFL in one category that is further proof nearly everyone was wrong about Josh Allen
The Buffalo Bills lead the entire NFL in one important category, and it’s thanks in large part to the efforts made by Josh Allen.
The Buffalo Bills are undefeated through the early stages of the 2025 NFL season, with a matchup against the Miami Dolphins set for Thursday Night Football. Each of the team’s two victories has looked drastically different, with the offense coming alive late in the Week 1 comeback victory, and the defense having a day against Justin Fields and the Jets offense.
However, dating back to the 2024 season, Buffalo leads in one category despite how the game may play out in their wins. In 24 straight games, the Bills have won the turnover battle, which is the longest such streak in NFL history.
Sound, fundamental football from Buffalo has us thinking of one name in particular — Josh Allen.
Josh Allen, take a bow
When Allen was drafted by the Bills, and early on in his NFL career, skeptics pointed out that the franchise quarterback had a turnover problem and wasn’t accurate enough for the league.
What’s more, on the night Allen was drafted, the team was told they would need to outsmart basically all regular humans and math itself for Allen to work out in Buffalo.
Early in his career, Allen would try and do too much, which sometimes resulted in some costly turnovers. However, entering his eighth season, Allen has ascended to one of the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL, while addressing the concerns critics and fans alike had with his costly turnovers.
From 2020-2023, Allen had the most turnovers in the NFL (75) before cutting them to a career-low eight in 2024, according to CBS Sports. It helped bring Allen home his first MVP award. While it’s not a Super Bowl, it’s further proof of Allen’s evolution as he continues to fine-tune his game on the field.
Allen is a touchdown machine, despite the turnovers
Allen has had his fair share of naysayers throughout his NFL career. Hopping on social media after Allen throws an interception is always the same song and dance with fans calling him a turnover machine, despite almost completely removing that from his game.
Now, turnovers are going to happen, but Allen has done a tremendous job limiting some costly mistakes he would make earlier in his career.
Despite the turnovers, Allen’s ability to find the end zone in any way imaginable has him leading the entire league since 2022. With 131 combined passing, rushing, and, yes, receiving touchdowns, Allen has the most touchdowns by a quarterback since 2022.
Allen entered his eighth season already holding the record for the most total touchdowns in a player’s first eight seasons (266 and counting).
McDermott and the front office have changed the trajectory of the team since they arrived, and Allen has once again changed the trajectory of the organization with his abilities on the football field. He’s no longer a turnover machine and is one of the most prolific passers in the entire league.
Buffalo will look to keep their unprecedented streak alive against the struggling Dolphins on Thursday, a team that Allen has plenty of success against.
Any day where Allen can silence the critics is a good day for the Bills Mafia.
