The Buffalo Bills pulled out the win against the Miami Dolphins in a close matchup that came down to the final few plays. Reigning MVP Josh Allen didn’t put on his Superman cape and didn’t need to. He was effective in the contest, going 22-for-28 with 213 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions.

After his second touchdown, Allen became the fastest quarterback in NFL history to have 300 total touchdowns. Immediately following the game, Allen was asked about achieving the feat in front of his parents, who were celebrating their anniversary. It was an extra special moment for Allen, and not one that he’ll soon forget.

“I think they just enjoy being here, getting to watch me,” Allen said. “I love their support; they don’t miss many games. I’ve got some really good role models in my life. Go Bills.”

The Bills and Allen are 8-0 at home against the Dolphins in the last eight contests, something that he was asked about after the game. Allen was quick to point to the fans and his teammates for their success at Highmark Stadium.

“I think our fans give us a lot of juice,” Allen said. “This is a team that was prepared, ready to go. Their line, their front five, they’re as good as anybody in the league, so we knew we were going to have our hands full. Thought we did a good job of running it, thought we passed it pretty well. Got to sustain a few drives, we’ll be alright.”

Dolphins kept it close late in the fourth quarter

Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins’ offense were moving down the field late in the fourth quarter. But rookie Deone Walker showed up at the perfect moment with some pressure up front, forcing an errant pass from Tagovailoa.

Bills captain Terrel Bernard secured the interception to ultimately end the game. Miami still got another possession late, but Buffalo capitalized after the turnover to make it a two-score game.

Allen had nothing but praise for Bernard postgame, highlighting that the interception was the difference-maker in the contest. Bernard is one of two team captains, alongside Allen, and it’s in part because of plays like that. Regardless, Bernard finds a way to make an impact. He finished the day with seven total tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass defended, and an interception.

“We needed him to make a play, needed someone to do it,” Allen said. “He’s our captain for a reason. He showed that tonight.”

The pass rush had been relatively non-existent all night, but the defense came away with one of the biggest plays of the evening, helping seal the win for Buffalo.

While it wasn’t pretty, and there is plenty to clean up, the team is undefeated with two division wins under its belt in the early stages of the season. Still, there is plenty to be excited about if you’re a member of the Bills Mafia, as the team finds unique ways to win each week.

It was just a bonus that Allen’s parents were watching the game on their anniversary, getting a front-row seat to watch their son’s greatness, and etching his name in the NFL history books.
