It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Tennessee Vols kicker Max Gilbert.

Last weekend, Gilbert missed the potential game-winning field against the Georgia Bulldogs (Gilbert did make two other field goals in the game, though).

This week, in a much less intense game, Gilbert was stomped by a UAB player after Tennessee kicked an extra point.

UAB was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty on the play.

What is UAB doing against the Tennessee Vols???

UAB was down by 21 points at the time the stomp happened.

I mean, that’s just a really poor decision. And it’s probably a reflection of how UAB is coached (not a good look for Trent Dilfer).

Tennessee’s been in games like this before — the Akron game in 2022 got chippy — despite the game not being close — and there were questionable tackles from the Akron defenders (the Vols lost wide receiver Cedric Tillman to injury for over a month because of that game).

The Vols just need to get out of the UAB game healthy.
