Miami Hurricanes QB Carson Beck grew up as a fan of the Florida Gators. As a talented quarterback at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, the opportunity was there for him to go to Florida, and the fit seemed like a logical one.

But Beck spurned former Gators head coach Dan Mullen and ended up at Georgia, where he swept the Gators as the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback in 2023-24. Now, after very capably stepping into the shoes of Cam Ward at University of Miami this season, he had the chance to finish his career undefeated against the Gators. And he did just that in a 26-7 win on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

After the game, Beck was asked about how it feels to go 3-0 against Florida after growing up a Gator fan, and the Canes QB didn’t pull any punches.

Carson Beck says it feels “really, really good” to finish his career undefeated against the Gators

“It feels really good. It feels really, really good,” Beck said with a wide grin during his postgame press conference. “Obviously, I grew up a Florida fan, but now I’ve been to two schools that Florida is a huge rival of, so I’m not the biggest fan of the Gators anymore. So, although not a fan, I have the utmost respect for them. That defense is really good. They had given up only two touchdowns coming into tonight. And, again, we ran the ball really, really well. It was a rainy game. It was about ball security. It was about physically imposing our will on them. I think we did that, but that’s not to say they did (not) play a great game. That’s a really, really good team.

“So, I’m really proud of the guys. I’m really proud of the win. It’s a really good win. We’ll celebrate this one and then go into the bye week and try to fix things and get better.”

Beck didn’t have his strongest game in the win, as the Hurricanes relied on the ground game to open and close out the game against the Gators with physical and grueling touchdown drives, which has been their trademark offensive style this season. Former Miami commit Cormani McClain had an interception of Beck in the third quarter. Beck finished 17/30 passing for 160 yards with the one interception.

But at the end of the day, Beck was again kneeling out a win over the team that he grew up cheering for, and with the Gators now 1-3, a rematch in the College Football Playoff is basically an impossibility.

So, Beck will indeed finish out his career without suffering a loss at the hands of the team he grew up a fan of. And it sounds like he couldn’t be happier about it.
