Shilo Sanders may have missed out on the opportunity of making the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ roster, but he’s getting another shot thanks to the San Francisco 49ers, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Granted, Sanders has a long way to go since it was just a workout, but the fact another team is interested in him will appease the masses that hoped he’d make the Bucs’ roster or even just the practice squad.

Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Green Bay gave a perspective that gives way to why the 49ers worked out Sanders after an ineffective training camp and preseason that was capped off with an in-game ejection after he threw a punch:

“The 49ers are awfully thin at safety, as the team only has three players at the position on the 53-man roster. Jason Pinnock was a veteran signed to a small deal in March, and Marques Sigle, a fifth-round rookie, are the starters. Ji’Ayir Brown, a former third-round pick, is the backup and can also play in the slot. The Niners also have Derrick Canteen on the practice squad. You shouldn’t be surprised by this, but the team’s primary safety is hurt. Coming off a promising rookie season, Malik Mustapha is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 18 of last year and started the season on the physically unable to perform list. He’s expected to return at some point later in the season.”

If Sanders impresses then there’s certainly a world where he could be on the field against the Bucs when these two teams take each other on in Week 6. As Baker Mayfield said last week – things can get personal in the NFL, regardless of context.

We’ll see if Sanders gets his own chance at some revenge.
