Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni speaks to media following Week 4 win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-25, on Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni became just the third coach in NFL history to start the NFL season 4-0, joining Paul Brown and George Halas.

Following the win, Sirianni shared some insight into what has made him so successful at winning in the early season.

“Training camp, I think our guys, we’ve just got guys that work their butts off. We stress it, we talk about it, how the hard work – that’s really what we talked about all week is that the work, the game, and the work that you put into the game never lie to you,” Sirianni said. “And we’ve got guys who put the work in and coaches that put the work in. Listen, we’ve got a lot to clean up, but to be 4-0, that’s good. What we talked about is don’t let good get in the way of great.”

The Eagles’ Win Over Bucs Was Far From Perfect

While the Eagles were able to walk away with a road win over the Bucs at Raymond James Stadium in Week 4, it was far from a perfect victory.

For starters, quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 15 of 24 passes for 130 yards and two scores, but struggled to find connections in the entire second half of the win. No. 1 wide receiver A.J. Brown, who caught two passes on nine targets for seven yards, was noticeably upset. Additionally, running back Saquon Barkley was held to 43 yards and one score. He did finish second in receiving with four catches for 31 yards, while tight end Dallas Goedert starred in the passing game with four catches for 27 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Eagles made some costly mistakes but overcame them by holding the Bucs to just three points in the final quarter and forcing four turnovers throughout the game, including a game-sealing end-zone interception by rookie linebacker Jihaad Campbell. They were also 0-2 in the red zone and 3-13 on third downs.

“We’ll enjoy this tonight,” Sirianni said of the win. “We’ll enjoy this in the locker room. We’ll enjoy it on the plane. And then tomorrow is going to be tough for all of us. We’ll get the corrections made that we need to make.”
