Eagles’ offensive line takes major blow ahead of Week 6 against Giants
Philly will be without their starting left guard for “Thursday Night Football.”
Philadelphia Eagles starting left guard Landon Dickerson exited Week 5’s loss against the Denver Broncos early with an ankle injury.
Dickerson was ultimately ruled out and did not return, and it looks like he won’t be returning for a few weeks.
After landing on Monday’s estimated injury report as a non-participant ahead of the Eagles’ Week 6 “Thursday Night Football” game against the New York Giants, it was reported that Dickerson could miss one of two games.
“Of the three #Eagles who were an estimated “DNP” on Monday’s injury report, RB Saquon Barkley (knee) is expected to be ready for Thursday’s game vs. the Giants, per NFL source. Sounds like G Landon Dickerson (ankle) could miss the next 1-2 games. TE Grant Calcaterra (oblique) is also unlikely to be ready in two days,” The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McClane reported on Tuesday morning.
It could be time to rest Dickerson for longer
While this is a major blow to the Eagles’ offensive line, it could be time to rest Dickerson for longer than one or two games.
Dickerson has been dealing with multiple injuries since before the season even began.
He underwent minor surgery on his knee ahead of the season and then dealt with a back injury. He didn’t let either injury keep him from starting in the team’s Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Dickerson has been reliable as they come for the Eagles at left guard and has started 66 of the 67 games he’s appeared in for Philly, only missing six outings since 2021. That’s not too surprising since Dickerson appears to be too hard-headed when it comes to missing games.
“For Landon, nothing’s ever too serious,” Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts told reporters following Dickerson’s knee surgery. “He’s one that’s always playing through something and has a great competitive spirit, has an edge to overcome some of those nicks that come up. Always good to hear that he’s in a good place.”
Playing through one injury might be fine, but now he’s dealing with one among two that are more than likely still lingering.
With Dickerson on the sideline, backup guard Brett Toth is expected to start in his place against the Giants.
