Las Vegas Raiders’ Week 6 matchup vs. the Titans is a bit more special for Tennessee head coach Brian Callahan
Brian Callahan and the Titans will look to win two streak with a win over the Raiders.
The Las Vegas Raiders are about to play the Tennessee Titans in a battle of which team is worse, rather than who is better. However, there is one thing that’s interesting in this matchup. Titans head coach Brian Callahan has a special connection to the Raiders.
“We’ve got a lot of Raiders on our staff, a lot of guys that spent a lot of time there,” Titans HC Brian Callahan said. “In high school, when my dad was there, they had a lot of success. I was a fan of the Raiders. It was a great environment to play in when they were at the Coliseum in Oakland. Then I got the chance to go coach here for a year. I have fond memories of the Silver and Black. Great place, great memories.”
Brian Callahan’s history with the Raiders
Brian’s father, Bill Callahan, coached for the Raiders from 1998 to 2001 as the offensive coordinator. The next two years, he was the head coach. That means Callahan was a part of the most recent playoff win for the Raiders, over 20 years ago. Bill comes from the Jon Gruden and Ray Rhodes coaching tree, according to Pro Football History.com.
Bill Callahan’s record with the Raiders
- 1998: 8-8 as the offensive coordinator
- 1999: 8-8 as the offensive coordinator
- 2000: 12-4 as the offensive coordinator
- 2001: 10-4 as the offensive coordinator
- 2002: 11-5 as the head coach
- 2003: 4-12 as the head coach
Now, Brian coached for the Raiders, too, in 2018 as the quarterbacks coach. But that team was 4-12. After that, Brian went on to the Cincinnati Bengals from 2019 to 2023. He actually was part of beating the Raiders in their last playoff game.
From there, Callahan was hired as the Titans’ head coach last season, where, in his first year, they won just three games, good enough for the No. 1 pick, drafting Cam Ward as their franchise quarterback. To start this season, they are 1-4, but their first win came last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
This game is different for Callahan, and you know it would feel awesome for him to get a win in Week 6.
