The Tennessee Vols and Arkansas Razorbacks don’t play every year, but that hasn’t stopped the last two seasons from being eventful and emotional clashes. This season, that started early in the week after Arkansas RB Mike Washington, Jr. talked how the Vols’ defense had holes. Word got back to the Tennessee defense about his comments, according to Voice of the Vols Mike Keith.

And that led to a physical and hard-fought game that the Vols won 34-31 that, apparently, had Arkansas and Tennessee players jawing at each other during and after the game.

And that jawing wasn’t lost on Vols RB Peyton Lewis. Players on both teams had a scuffle in the end zone after the game, and right afterwards, Lewis had some choice words about the Razorbacks while heading off the field.

Tennessee RB Peyton Lewis said that Arkansas players “can’t take a loss” after the game

“Let’s see who came out on top,” Lewis said. “They’re wanting to talk? Cool. We’ll see it on the field. It don’t matter. Want to talk that trash last year, we got them back. Cool. Ain’t none of that matter. Zero zero on the clock and look who’s losing. Ah, ha, they can’t take a loss. That’s crazy.”

Football is a highly physical and highly emotional sport being played 100 miles an hour between some of the best athletes and most competitive individuals in the country. It’s honestly amazing that more in-game and postgame spats don’t break out from time to time.

But to the victor goes the spoils, and in the case of college athletics, that means the bragging rights. Tennessee and their fans had to hear about the 2024 Arkansas disaster for a year, and apparently the players heard all about it from the Hog players.

Now, Lewis and the rest of his teammates can enjoy getting the last laugh this year. And it certainly appears that they are.
