Key Tennessee Vols player that went down in Arkansas game says he’s good to go for Alabama
Tennessee Vols defensive lineman made his 2025 season debut in UT’s 34-31 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
Tennessee Vols junior defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs made his season-debut last weekend in UT’s 34-31 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Hobbs, who missed the first five games of the season due to a foot injury, had a big game against Arkansas.
The North Carolina native totaled five tackles, one sack, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble while playing 34 of 78 defensive snaps.
At one point during the game, Hobbs went down and needed to be attended to by the trainers.
Fortunately for Hobbs and Tennessee, it sounds like the defensive lineman is good to go for the Vols’ game against Alabama this upcoming weekend.
“Yeah, I feel good,” said Hobbs on Tuesday when asked by a reporter about going down in the Arkansas game. “It was nothing.”
That’s good news for the Volunteers. Hobbs showed how important he is to Tennessee’s defensive line rotation with the way he created chaos against the Razorbacks.
Daevin Hobbs says he’ll have a little extra juice against Alabama
Not only is Hobbs expected to be on the field for the Vols on Saturday against Alabama, but it sounds like the talented defensive lineman will have a little extra juice, too.
“I mean, I know a couple (of players) down there,” said Hobbs “But just the fact that that was one of my top schools (as a high school recruit) really juices things up for me mentally. Just for me, really. I have different type of motivation this week. But, you know, just the same thing all the time — stay locked in, stay focused.”
Hobbs isn’t the only UT defensive lineman that has some extra juice because it’s Alabama week.
Vols sophomore defensive lineman Jordan Ross, who grew up 45 minutes away from Tuscaloosa, pointed out this week that Alabama didn’t recruit him “that well”.
“They didn’t really recruit me that well to be honest,” said Ross on the Food City Locker Room . “I remember I got a Tennessee offer, it was probably like my fifth or sixth offer. But they (Alabama) didn’t really recruit me. They were, like, one of my last offers. I went up there for a camp and that was about it.”
There should be no shortage of motivation for the Vols on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
