‘No doubt in my mind that he said that’ – Report suggests that Tony Vitello dropped an epic quote in interview with the Giants
The San Francisco Giants are reportedly trying to hire Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello as their new manager
Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello is reportedly considering an offer from the San Francisco Giants to become the franchise’s next manager.
Vitello was at Tennessee’s practice on Sunday afternoon, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel’s Mike Wilson.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Saturday that Vitello is expected to make a decision in the next 72 hours, which would be Tuesday at the latest.
Report suggests that Tony Vitello dropped an epic quote in interview with the Giants
The San Francisco Standard’s John Shea noted on Saturday that an “industry source” suggested that Vitello told the Giants that he’s the guy who can beat the Los Angeles Dodgers — the superteam currently ruling the National League.
“He’s the guy who probably convinced Buster Posey he could beat the Dodgers,” said an industry source to The San Francisco Standard of Vitello. “No doubt in my mind that he walked in and said that. Just give me the horses.”
We may never know whether or not Vitello actually said those words to Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey. But it certainly sounds like something Vitello would say.
We’ll see in the coming days if Vitello will be managing against the Dodgers next season.
