Dak Prescott clears the air on apparent hand injury following another dominant game from Cowboys QB
Dak Prescott is going to be just fine.
When Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took the podium to address reporters following a 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders, eyes were drawn to his hand, which was wrapped. Fortunately, it was his non-throwing hand but still, it immediately raised questions.
Prescott—who passed for 264 yards, three touchdowns and a 130.4 passer rating—explained to reporters it wasn’t anything serious.
“Nothing,” Prescott said about his bandage. “A little (Cowboys Director or Rehabilitation Britt Brown) special to take some swelling down.”
Prescott added the swelling was probably the result of hitting a another player while taking care of the football.
“I usually throw my left hand to cover the ball when getting hit and usually takes a lot of helmet,” Prescott added. “I’m sure it’s just a helmet, nothing unusual, honestly.”
Prescott saying it’s not serious plus the fact that it’s his non-throwing hand in all likelihood means Cowboys fans have nothing to be worried about when it comes to their quarterback as far as availability goes. He should be good to go at 100% ahead of Week 8, when the team will take on the Denver Broncos.
Prescott continues to play dominant football
Over the last four games, Prescott has thrown for 13 touchdowns and no interceptions. Per the Cowboys’ P.R. team, he is “the sixth player in NFL history to have at least three passing touchdowns without an interception in four consecutive games – Russell Wilson (five game streak in 2015), Drew Brees (four in 2019), Aaron Rodgers (four in 2014), Peyton Manning (four in 2013-14) and Tom Brady (four in 2007).”
Despite the fast start, Prescott isn’t satisfied yet.
“Who knows what we can accomplish? The sky is the limit,” Prescott said postgame. “We’re just going to stay focused each and every day on getting better, growing our connection. I guess that’s the next step—continuing to communicate with one another.”
