A former Tennessee Vols standout received some tough injury news on Monday.

According to a report from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kansas City Chiefs rookie defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott suffered a torn ACL in KC’s Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Norman-Lott, who played at Tennessee from 2023 to 2024 after transferring from Arizona State, was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Omarr Norman-Lott will be cutting it close to be ready for the start of the 2026 season for the Chiefs

It’s obviously far too early to forecast an exact return date for Norman-Lott — every ACL recovery is unique and has its own challenges — but the timing of this injury could make it tough for the former Vol to be ready for the start of the 2026 season.

Detroit Lions defensive lineman Alim McNeil, for example, tore his ACL last December. McNeil just returned to practice earlier this month, nearly a full 10 months after suffering the injury.

10 months from now will be late August, which means it will be cutting it close for Norman-Lott to be ready for the start of next season (based on McNeil’s timeline).

Norman-Lott totaled five tackles and one sack in five games during his rookie season.
