Defeating the Washington Commanders is currently the Kansas City Chiefs’ main focus, but they may already have a significant advantage over their next opponent, the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs will travel to Buffalo for the second straight season to take on the Bills. Kansas City’s offense has been hot over the past month and will face an ailing Buffalo defense in Week 9.

During their win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Bills star defensive tackle Ed Oliver exited the game with a biceps injury. According to NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe, that will likely cost Oliver some game action moving forward.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid can expose Bills’ beat-up defensive line

Losing Oliver, one of the NFL’s best defensive tackles, is bad enough for the Bills. However, it’s even more crushing given that Buffalo is already down two other DTs in DaQuan Jones and T.J. Sanders.

Jones has missed the past two games with a calf injury, and Sanders is on injured reserve with a knee injury through at least Week 10. Oliver has appeared in just three games this season, having previously battled an ankle injury.

The Bills have felt the impact of being thin at the DT position, ranking 31st against the run — surrendering 150 rushing yards per game. You can bet that Andy Reid is well aware of that and can design a game plan to expose that weakness.

The Chiefs’ rushing attack hasn’t had a true breakout performance yet, but has steadily improved as of late. It has crossed the 100-yard mark in each of its past four games and has gone over 150 yards in two of those contests.

Starting running back Isiah Pacheco has settled in nicely after a slow start, and Kareem Hunt has been a great short-yardage back. Rookie Brashard Smith has been a weapon as a receiver out of the backfield, and his snaps are continually increasing each week.
