Oklahoma Sooners just took advantage of one former blue blood head coach’s failures by flipping an elite recruit
The Oklahoma Sooners are flipping one Penn State recruit.
The Oklahoma Sooners may have just lost to the Ole Miss Rebels, but they still got a win on Monday morning by flipping WR Jahsiear Rogers from the Penn State Nittany Lions. Since their head coach, James Franklin, was fired, recruits who committed to Penn State have recommitted and are starting to flip elsewhere. The Sooners took advantage of that.
Sooners are getting an elite wide receiver in Jahsiear Rogers
The Sooners now have four receivers in their 2026 class, which is ranked 19th in the country, per On3’s composite rankings. Daniel Odom was the first WR in the class, with Roger’s now capping it off. All of these guys are either four stars or very high three stars.
While Rogers is from Delaware, the Sooners seem to be a school he’s had his eyes on for some time now.
Sooners 2026 wide receivers
- Four-star Daniel Odom
- Four-star Jahsiear Rogers
- Three-star Zizi Okwufulueze
- Three-star Brayden Allen
“Oklahoma is just a place built for football players,” Rogers told Rivals. “It’s a football town. Out there, you’re going to be focused and ready to go every day. Just the rich history they have of putting great receivers in the league, and just the program and coaching staff. It’s a family atmosphere over there. Definitely the fans. The relationship the coaches have with the players and me. Coach Venables is a great guy all around.”
The 6-foot, 175-pound WR is electric with the ball in his hands, can stretch the field vertically, but also has great lateral speed to create big-time plays when it oftentimes looks like nothing is available. Oklahoma needs a guy like that, and it got one in Rogers.
The 2026 class is coming together nicely, and just when we think it’s capped off, the Sooners go and make another move. Now, there is still time before National Signing Day, but it feels like this could be one of the last moves we see on the offensive side of the ball involving skill-position players. They did need another WR, and they got one.
