Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided some brief injury updates on a pair of players after the 28-7 win over the Commanders on “Monday Night Football.”

In a departure from the norm, Reid updated reporters on the injury situation at the end of his postgame press conference. Both RB Isiah Pacheco and LB Nick Bolton suffered injuries during the second half of the Week 8 game.

“I should have told you the injuries, because Pop’s one of those,” Reid said. “(Isiah Pacheco) hurt his knee, and (Nick) Bolton likewise hurt his knee, so we’ll just see how they do as we go forward here.”

Even beyond the injuries being an afterthought for Reid, the early indications are that these two injuries aren’t all that serious. It’s certainly good news after Chiefs rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott suffered a season-ending injury in Week 7.

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco appeared fine after exiting the game in the fourth quarter

Pacheco was hurt with about four minutes left in the fourth quarter. He carried the ball for a nine-yard gain and was tackled low by Commanders DBs Jeremy Reaves and Trey Amos. One of the players collided with Pacheco, just below the knee. He was seen grasping at it after the play and limped off the field toward the sideline.

Later in the drive, he was shown on the ESPN broadcast at the training table undergoing a stability examination of his knee. He popped up off the table, grabbed his helmet, and was seen walking around and smiling on the sideline. Even though he didn’t come back into the game, it felt like a situation where he could have if the game weren’t already in hand with just a few minutes remaining.

Chiefs players on injured reserve

  • DT Omarr Norman-Lott
  • DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah
  • LB Brandon George
  • S Deon Bush
  • CB Nazeeh Johnson
  • DE Janarius Robinson
  • DB Eric Scott

Chiefs’ postgame actions indicate Nick Bolton will also be fine

The one thing the Chiefs don’t do with their injured players is put them in front of the media postgame. If Bolton staying in the game after getting his knee dinged wasn’t evidence enough, how the team handled him postgame tells the story.

The fact that Bolton got a podium session and spoke to the media after the game is a positive sign that he’ll be good to go for the Week 9 game against the Buffalo Bills. Needless to say, they will need all the help they can get in that one.
