Seminoles QB Tommy Castellanos let everyone know one young stud who showed out vs. Wake Forest is just getting started
Tommy Castellanos and the Florida State Seminoles loved what they saw from RB Sam Singleton.
Most of the time, the Florida State Seminoles‘ issues this season have not been offense-related. A few of the times they have, but we have seen this offense do some pretty insane things in 2025. And, it’s become very apparent that, even with the young running back room, they have a ton of talent there. The Seminoles have a bright future with the young guys in that room.
This season, we have seen that statement ring true with guys like true freshman Ousmane Kromah, and now Sam Singleton is the latest example, after his game against Wake Forest put some people on notice. It’s safe to say we won’t stop seeing Singleton anytime soon, either, barring anything crazy happening.
Seminoles QB Tommy Castellanos talks to RB Sam Singleton after win over Wake Forest
“We’ve seen it all offseason and in practice, and I’m proud of him with his opportunity,” QB Tommy Castellanos told reporters after the win. “When his name was called, he came in and stepped up and showed everyone what he could do. So, you guys will see a lot more of (number) 28, I’ll tell you that for sure.
“We have just a great room of running backs, and it’s kind of hard to say, ‘Why haven’t we seen him?’ Well, we have other good RBs that’s been doing a really good job of playing football for us. And so, some injuries happened, and it was his time to shine. These last four games, Sam will be in there. He will be in there in the scheme getting touches.”
You could tell from the very first offensive play of the game for the Seminoles that it would be a good day for Singleton, as he burst through the two lines for nine yards right off the bat. Singleton finished with 91 rushing yards on 14 carries with one rushing touchdown. His longest on the day was the 27-yarder, which set the Seminoles up to eventually put some points on the board.
The Sophomore running back is a guy who could be a focal point of the running game through the rest of the season, especially seeing the injuries FSU has had this season. Singleton is third on the Noles in rushing from the RB position, behind Gavin Sawchuk and Kromah. However, he has the best yards per carry of the RBs at 11, which is promising moving forward. He’s gotten not nearly as many carries as the two in front of him, so his legs are much fresher.
The Seminoles are a top-15 rushing team in the entire country, so Castellanos is right in that we will probably see a ton more of Singleton here soon. This is likely a team that is out of the College Football Playoffs for this season, but they still have a lot to play for, so they’ll need Singleton and others next week against Clemson. This game looked like the same team that beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, but can they carry that over?
