The Denver Broncos are fresh off a divisional victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in primetime. With the win, the Broncos also suffered a potentially notable loss as well, though. A key offensive playmaker may miss time due to a questionable non-call that the NFL has wanted to improve on calling recently.

JK Dobbins dealing with foot injury after potential hip-drop tackle

According to Tom Pelissero, the Broncos top running back is dealing with a foot injury that he suffered in the team’s Thursday Night Football win over Las Vegas. Dobbins believes that the ailment was caused by a hip-drop tackle.

The NFL suspended Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu at the start of this week due to multiple hip-drop tackle violations, but the suspension was then lifted for solely a large fine.

Josh Taylor recently discussed the inconsistency of the league’s calls on the hip-drop tackle. They want to “crack down” on these sort of plays, but they aren’t paying attention to them at other moments. It is impossible to know when they will punish a player for it.

“The league reviews everything and hands out fines on Saturday, so there’s no excuse not to catch the tackles on Daniels, especially after the injuries he’s suffered this season. It’s a great rule to have to protect players, but the execution is very poor, just like a lot of other rules around the league.” — Josh Taylor, A to Z Sports

Regardless, the Broncos are probably frustrated with the lack of punishment as of now. Dobbins has stayed relatively healthy this season and consistently produced for Sean Payton’s offense. Keep an eye out for updates on his current injury situation later this weekend.
