The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are desperately trying to get back to the winning ways the team experienced earlier in the season and Wednesday’s injury updates are a big step in the right direction.

The biggest news of the day came in the form of star running back Bucky Irving’s return to practice. Multiple Bucs reporters posted pictures and videos of him taking reps with the team. Wednesday’s session was a walkthrough, so it’ll be interesting to see how Irving responds to the actual practice that will be involved with Thursday. If he responds well then there’s a good chance he plays against the Buffalo Bills and its suspect run defense.

It would be a huge boost if Irving goes on Sunday. Not only do the Bills have a bad run defense as previously mentioned, but Irving adds such an explosive element to the Bucs’ running game. It’s certainly not the same without him and that even trickles down to the short passing game and screen game.

That’s not the only positive injury update, either. Starting right guard Ben Bredeson was seen practicing with a sleeve over the right hamstring he injured six snaps into Week 10’s loss to the New England Patriots. Like Irving, it’s currently not a guaranteed he plays, the odds of him playing will grow stronger with more practice time. Granted, Todd Bowles told reporters Wednesday it’s “highly unlikely” Bredeson plays this week, so we’ll see how Thursday plays out, just like Irving. Still, it’s an encouraging sign to see him out there and not on the sidelines.

On the flip side, wide receiver Chris Godwin and Haason Reddick weren’t practicing, but again, Wednesday was a walkthrough, so it’s not totally indicative of their future status, although it is hard to envision them on the field Sunday.

Thursday’s updates will be absolutely key and we’ll provide those as soon as they come through.
