The Minnesota Vikings are set to host the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium and it’s going to be a very interesting game.

These two teams met in Week 1 on Monday Night Football, and the Vikings had a monstrous fourth quarter from quarterback J.J. McCarthy with 21 points to get a 27-24 victory. It’s been a very different nine weeks since they both played, as the Bears have rattled off six wins, while the Vikings are 3-5.

The winner of this game will be in a better spot when it comes to trying to win the NFC North, as the Vikings have a 2-0 record so far in the division, with both wins coming on the road.

Thursday’s injury report makes things clearer about who will end up playing on Sunday afternoon.

Observations

  • Head coach Kevin O’Connell alluded earlier in the week that this could be growing. It didn’t on Thursday, but last week, Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave got rest days on Friday.
  • McCarthy took a step forward on Thursday. Despite his hand injury, McCarthy was a full participant. It’s really a non-issue.
  • After appearing on the injury report on Wednesday, Kelly remained limited. He is going to be one to watch to play on Sunday.
