2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, a Tennessee Vols commit for over a year, threw his first pass in a game in over two months on Friday night.

Brandon, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 recruit in the nation, returned to the field this week for the first time since injuring his throwing hand in late August.

The North Carolina native quickly reminded everyone of why he’s a five-star recruit by uncorking a 75-yard touchdown pass on his first throw of the game.

“We knew that the safety would probably be close up, so we knew that we were going to have the post over top,” said Brandon to Greensboro.com of his 75-yard touchdown pass. “So I would say just making sure I held the safeties with my run fake in the play action and then just gave Kaden (Catoe) a good pass in the post.”

Brandon already looks like a perfect fit for Josh Heupel’s offense at Tennessee.

Brandon threw three touchdown passes (all in the first half) in Grimsley’s playoff win against West Cabarrus. He also passed for 190 yards in the 42-7 win.

“It felt very good,” said Brandon after the game. “I was very excited to be back out there with all my guys.”

Brandon is expected to officially sign with Tennessee when the early sign period begins on December 3.
