Tennessee Vols linebacker Arion Carter made sure to get his teammates fired up before playing the Florida Gators last Saturday night in the Swamp.

On Monday morning, Tennessee’s official social media accounts dropped the video of Carter’s fiery pregame speech ahead of the Vols’ 31–11 win over the Gators.

“This right here is where we separate the men from the boys,” Carter says in the clip. “We in a hostile environment, and I know damn well I like to be respected more than I like to be liked. Tonight, we earn our respect. We give everything we got.”

Arion Carter entered the season with a reputation for great pregame speeches

It’s no surprise that Carter delivered a tremendous pregame speech before facing off against the Gators.

Earlier this year, Vols defensive lineman Bryson Eason pointed out that Carter is great at giving Ray Lewis-like motivational speeches before games.

“When AC talks, everybody’s listening….you got somebody that’s going to give you a Ray Lewis motivational [talk] before the game,” said Eason of Carter at SEC Media Days in July.

VolQuest’s Austin Price offered a similar sentiment about Carter this past summer during a guest appearance on 99.1 The Sports Animal.

“Arion Carter is one that will rally the troops,” said Price. “He’s the guy that in the pregame will give the Drew Brees speech. He’s that type of player. A year ago, it was Dylan Sampson. So it certainly feels like he’s ready to take off. This is a real opportunity for him this year. This, to me, is a contract year — if he has a really good year, he’s off to the NFL. So he’s motivated. He’s an in-state kid. He wears the Power T with pride, and it feels like he’s ready to go boom.”

Carter certainly brought the energy on Saturday night in the Swamp, and it helped Tennessee end a 22-year losing streak in Gainesville.
