Bills’ Josh Allen and the offense take a major hit just moments before kickoff against the Steelers
Not the news fans were hoping to hear ahead of kickoff.
The Buffalo Bills were always going to be a bit shorthanded against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13. On Friday, head coach Sean McDermott ruled out both starting offensive tackles in Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, leaving Allen without some key protection up front.
Not only that, but the team announced that linebacker Terrel Bernard would also be inactive, along with wide receiver Curtis Samuel. Samuel wound up on injured reserve, which sidelines him for at least the next four weeks. For a player that the team spent some serious cash on, it’s a frustrating update when you look at Samuel’s production since he arrived in Buffalo.
Ahead of the game, the team signed wide receiver Gabe Davis to the active roster while elevating tight end Keleki Latu and linebacker Baylon Spector from the practice squad, and activated offensive lineman Tylan Grable from injured reserve.
Now, moments before kickoff, the team has confirmed that Allen and the offense will be without one of their premier pass catchers in tight end Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid has missed the past two games with a hamstring injury and was questionable for Week 13.
Buffalo Bills’ inactive report for Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers
With 90 minutes until kickoff, the teams officially released their inactive report for the contest. Outside of Kincaid and the usual suspects in Dawkins, Brown, Bernard, and Samuel, the team is also going to be without receiver Joshua Palmer. Palmer was questionable along with Kincaid, as Allen is down yet another weapon moments before kickoff.
While Kincaid and Samuel are out, Buffalo is getting back wide receiver Keon Coleman, who had been a healthy scratch for the last two games stemming from some disciplinary action.
Rounding out the inactive report for Buffalo are cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram and defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis. Brown, Dawkins, Bernard, Kincaid, Palmer, Ingram, and Mathis are all unable to compete. It’s quite the long list for a team looking to bounce back in a big way and keep playoff hopes alive.
It’s yet another week where the Bills enter shorthanded, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. If Buffalo is going to keep its playoff hopes alive, the netd men up will need to deliver in Pittsburgh.
