Somehow, in 2025, with the new parity in college football in the NIL/transfer portal era, we still have the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs playing one another in the SEC Championship Game. Something’s never changed. Well, not exactly – the games between these two are usually close, or at least closer than they were on Saturday.

The Bulldogs absolutely beat down and destroyed Alabama in Atlanta. After the blocked punt by Georgia, which really changed the game, it wasn’t even close. Alabama entered the game as a team many thought could win. Smart was 1-7 before the game against Alabama. None of that mattered, as Georgia won big, in a game where the score looked a lot closer than it really was.

When it was pretty obvious the Bulldogs would win, some of their players went over to the sideline and trolled Alabama in a pretty crazy way. But also, in a funny way. Players grabbed a belt and started popping it, meaning they were whooping Alabama. Today, kids call that Something that’s probably not entirely appropriate here.

The celebration was pretty funny, though.

Bulldogs look at the possibility of being a No. 2 seed

Georgia came into this SEC Championship Game as the No. 3-seeded team. The committee has said before that conference championship games shouldn’t affect the rankings, but we all know that’s unlikely to happen. When you beat the No. 9 team by 21 points and hold them to -3 rushing yards in the game, you’re destined to move up.

Not to mention, the two teams above Georgia play one another. Either the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Indiana Hoosiers has to lose. Do we think that the committee will move one of them down? Does Georgia move up? Maybe. But there’s a chance, and there’s a chance because of how bad they beat Alabama.

Georgia is ready to play for a National Championship regardless.
