Bengals at Bills Inactives: Jermaine Burton is costing himself more than just playing time this week
Jermaine Burton continues to fall out of favor with the Bengals.
The Cincinnati Bengals are getting ready for kickoff against the Buffalo Bills. Before the game begins, each team has released its inactive players list.
Here are the Bengals players who will not play against the Bills:
- QB Jake Browning
- WR Jermaine Burton
- TE Cam Grandy
- DE Trey Hendrickson
- DT Jordan Jefferson
Jermaine Burton suspended by Bengals
Wide receiver Jermaine Burton is not only inactive for the 13th time this year, he’s also been suspended by the club and did not make the trip to Orchard Park.
It’s the latest setback for Burton, one of the Bengals’ two third-round picks from the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s yet to play in his second season after a rookie year marred by internal issues with the team. The 24-year old is simply an afterthought in the offense and wasn’t expected to be a part of the plan this week, but being suspended by the team is another step in the wrong direction for him.
Burton is the second Bengal to be suspended by the team in the Zac Taylor tenure, joining Cordy Glenn. His suspension will cost him a game check worth $59,320.88.
Tee Higgins officially returns
Cincinnati will have its usual suspects at the receiver position out there with Tee Higgins back from a concussion. Higgins missed last week’s win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Higgins re-joins Ja’Marr Chase and Andrei Iosvias as starters with Mitchell Tinsley and Charlie Jones as backups. It’s the first time since Week 2 Higgins and Chase are playing with quarterback Joe Burrow, who made his return last week in Baltimore.
Expert analysis on Bengals’ Week 14 inactives at Bills
- Jake Browning remains the emergency third quarterback who could come into the game if Burrow and Joe Flacco became unavailable.
- Trey Hendrickson is missing his fifth consecutive game with his hip/pelvis core muscle injury. Cam Sample returns to provide depth at the defensive end position, which has five players active for Sunday’s game.
- Shaka Heyward was also declared out Friday, but is not yet on the active roster. He was cleared to practice on Wednesday.
