Christian Benford has been playing at an All-Pro level as of late. I just wanted to get that off my chest because he deserves all the praise in the world.

During the Buffalo Bills’ comeback win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14, Benford had the play of the day. He read quarterback Joe Burrow like a book, jumping in front of a screen pass and taking it all the way for a pick-six. Benford now has touchdowns in back-to-back games and has taken his game to a new level after having a rocky start to the 2025 season.

Immediately after the game, Benford opened up about the game-breaking play with an honest admission that’s turning heads. Put simply, he didn’t do things correctly, and that’s perfectly fine with us, seeing how it all played out on the football field. Benford first broke down the play.

“It was a blitz, so he called my number, he said, they gave me the signal for me to go,” Benford said. “I was trying to disguise. I didn’t know what was about to happen, I just surrendered to God and let God do what he wants to do. I was just trying to do my technique.”

That’s when his honest admission came. Despite scoring a touchdown, Benford was still a little hard on himself but admitted that he just put his trust in God to help carry him along the way.

“I actually didn’t do my technique right, to be honest. I was peeping, and he said go, he hiked it, I went for a blitz,” Benford said. “I lowkey was expecting a run, I was expecting a tackle, but I saw him crank back and look for the now throw. I wasn’t supposed to jump; the technique is don’t leave your feet. I don’t know, God just gave me something to leave my feet. The rest was history.”

Benford had a lot of love for No. 17 after the win

Outside of Benford and his stellar performance in some of the biggest moments against the Bengals, it goes without saying that quarterback Josh Allen was the MVP of the contest. Once again, Allen put on his Superman cape, replacing the C on his jersey with an S, willing his team to a victory.

Benford was asked after the game about what it was like to watch and play with Allen, and the cornerback didn’t disappoint with his response.

“It’s actually really good, you know what I’m saying,” Benford said. “It’s really cool to experience that. Blessed to have him on our team, blessed to play with him. It’s really cool, it’s really cool, the plays that he makes are really some Madden stuff that you would do on Madden, playing against your little brother or something. He creates those plays in real life, and it’s really awesome. It’s unique.”

2025 Buffalo Bills are more than a team; they’re family

The talented cornerback finished the day with one tackle (tackle for loss), a pick-six, one sack, one pass defensed, and one quarterback hit. However, perhaps the most impactful moment of the day was when he was asked about the state of the Bills and what this win shows about a team that has so much fight and resilience.

Benford was asked what the win means for the team, and once again, he left nothing to the imagination with his response. A class act and a heck of a response from the defensive MVP.

“It honestly shows what goes on behind closed doors,” Benford added. “We stay together, we stay true to what we need to do as a unit. We stay true to what we need to do for ourselves, for our jobs, for our position, like our technique and fundamentals. No matter what, no matter where we are up, down, tie, whatever, we stay together as a brotherhood.”

It’s more family than coworkers for the Bills, with Benford opening up on a special sideline moment he shares with his brothers on gameday. One thing is for certain: This team is very close.

“I say on the sideline, ‘Love you, bro, I believe in you.’ They say, ‘love you, bro.’ They always say to me, ‘I believe in you, let’s go.’ Everybody picking each other up,” Benford said. “We could be winning by a million, and it’s the same thing. Everybody stays true, and it really is so genuinely love and is a true family out here when we play. We’re not just playing out there with somebody we just met, we playing with somebody we’ve experienced a lot with, and it shows.”

This season has been defined by adversity and late-game chaos. Benford’s rise couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for Buffalo. He’s not only been phenomenal on the field, but has become one of the emotional anchors of a locker room fighting for every inch in the playoff race. If he keeps playing at this level, “All-Pro” won’t just be a compliment; it’ll be a line on his resume.
