Kevin Stefanski gives expected response to critical question around the future of the Cleveland Browns
Kevin Stefanski is undoubtedly on the hot seat with the Browns at 3-11.
The Cleveland Browns are 3-11 on the season after a blowout loss against the Chicago Bears and they’re now staring down the same record they had last season.
Cleveland’s offense continues to be the team’s down pull, and there’s been no improvement this season. We’re undoubtedly looking at major changes happening within the Browns organization after another disappointing season with no improvement.
Kevin Stefanski is on the hot seat, he knows it, I know it, you know it
Cleveland’s head coach was asked on Monday if he had been given any assurances on his job security with how this season has gone. As expected, Stefanski deflected the question.
“I don’t get into those types of things,” Stefanski said. “I would just tell you my focus, our football team’s focus is solely on the Buffalo Bills and obviously, watching the tape today, that’s our focus, but that’s all we really care about.”
Stefanski is 43-55 in six years as the Browns head coach. The Browns made the playoffs in 2020 and 2022 when Stefanski also won Coach of the Year awards. Cleveland hasn’t made the playoffs in three straight years now and that’s where the major issue lies. Outside of what looks like a major hit on their 2025 NFL Draft class and Myles Garrett, the Browns don’t have a whole lot to celebrate.
Cleveland is just 6-25 over the last two seasons and they still have a major hole at the most important position in the sport. Deshaun Watson not working out for the Browns has them in a bad spot and they’ve had to maneuver around that. Cleveland has two first-round picks next season and one of them is likely to go on the quarterback position.
Before the season, the Haslam family accepted blame for the trade but admitted that more than three wins were needed. That hasn’t happened and the Browns looked the worst they have all season in Sunday’s 31-3 loss to the Bears. Cleveland has games left against the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cincinnati Bengals. If the team doesn’t regroup for the final stretch of games, things are going to unravel.
