Bills’ comeback win obviously annoyed Mike Vrabel after hearing him whine about something a Patriots fan would complain about

Not a good look for the Patriots head coach.

The Buffalo Bills pulled off the valiant comeback against the New England Patriots, thanks in large part to quarterback Josh Allen putting on his Superman cape and running back James Cook doing what Cook does best. It was an incredible game, spoiling the Patriots’ hat-and-t-shirt celebration.

However, the biggest talking point from the game is turning into Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and his incessant whining about the officials afterward. It wasn’t all negativity coming from Vrabel, as he showered Allen with praise after the contest, though begrudgingly.

Vrabel appeared on the Greg Hill Show and was upset over the referees in the contest. Specifically, the Buffalo Bills are the most penalized team for offensive holding, but Vrabel was angry that the team wasn’t called for a single one during the contest.

Vrabel goes viral for all the wrong reasons after loss to the Bills

“The Bills lead the NFL in offensive holding,” Vrabel said. “That would be hard for me to understand how the team that is coming into the game leading, and that’s how they play, didn’t have one [on Sunday. That’s hard for me to understand.”

Well, first and foremost, Vrabel is just flat-out wrong with his assertion. Vrabel conveniently skips over the fact that the Bills were actually called for holding once, and it even negated a touchdown. But if that doesn’t fit his narrative, of course, it’s an obsolete detail in his mind.

Patriots should have been called for a holding late in the game

You won’t hear Bills fans complaining about the officiating after the win, despite some questionable calls that didn’t go their way either. For Vrabel, he’s all worried about the lack of offensive holding calls against Buffalo, but his team got away with a big one in one of the biggest moments.

The Patriots’ only touchdown in the second half, a 65-yard scamper from running back TreVeyon Henderson, should have been called back for offensive holding. Still, maybe Vrabel didn’t pay close enough attention to his own team’s faults, just that of the officiating.

Vrabel’s postgame antics were childish to say the least, especially considering that he was just wrong with his analysis. It’s easy to forget the penalty that was called on Buffalo, after Allen found Knox for a touchdown on the very next play. But you can’t say something didn’t happen when it clearly did.

If Vrabel wants to comb through the tape to look for flags, he might want to start with his own sideline before firing shots across the aisle. The Bills didn’t win because of the officials; they won because they made plays when it mattered most, erased a 21-point deficit, and out-executed New England down the stretch.

Complaining about penalties won’t change the outcome, and it certainly won’t erase another painful reminder that once again, Buffalo found a way to walk out on top while the Patriots are left searching for excuses.
