Look, we know what football is for a large portion of America: highlights on Twitter and numbers you can see in box scores. That’s why so many Detroit Lions fans are not realizing how good a season Aidan Hutchinson is having. If he’s not getting sacks, then it doesn’t count. The edge position is about so much more than sacks.

Despite being doubled, tripled, and chipped on the majority of his snaps, Hutchinson still manages to lead the league in pressures with 85. He’s affecting the quarterback a lot more than you think. But if it’s sacks you’re looking for, this could be the game, according to our Steelers beat writer, Rob Gregson.

The left side is weak for the Steelers, and that’s exactly where Aidan Hutchinson lines up

“You would think a fourth-team left tackle would be the obvious attack point for an opposing pass rush, but Dylan Cook just pitched a shutout against the Dolphins, not even letting up a pressure. That being said, his help inside, LG Isaac Seumalo, left the game with a bad tricep injury. If he can’t go or if he’s limited, it might be lights out for the left side of that line. I would expect a lot of stunts, games, and overload blitzes from the Lions on Sunday.” – Rob Gregson, A to Z Pittsburgh.

Cook was a bit of a surprise in his first start, but the Dolphins don’t have a player like Hutchinson. Now, Cook will likely have to team up with backup left guard Spencer Anderson against Hutchinson on the left side, and they’re bound to try some double-team stuff on him.

That should open up things for Al-Quadin Muhammad on the right side, where the Steelers have allowed nine sacks this season. If Muhammad starts generating pressure, the Steelers will have to back off the double teams, which will open the door for Hutchinson. This could be a big-time game for him, and Aaron Rodgers could be on the run in this one.
