Bills have a chance to fix major problem with the roster all while embarrassing the Miami Dolphins at the same time
Brandon Beane needs to get it done.
The Buffalo Bills are not a perfect football team. There are some glaring weaknesses with the roster, but it’s important to consider the injuries the team has faced.
While the passing attack without a true No. 1 wide receiver might be one of the biggest issues, another is the lack of defensive ends on the roster. Buffalo has been forced to utilize defensive tackle TJ Sanders at the position, which is less than ideal if you ask me.
Fortunately, Buffalo is in an interesting position to fix that issue.
Matthew Judon should be a Buffalo Bill
Jordan Shultz broke the news that the Miami Dolphins are cutting pass rusher Matthew Judon, and he will now go on waivers. The waiver system makes me a little nervous after the issue that went down with cornerback Darius Slay, but I digress.
General manager Brandon Beane should absolutely do everything in his power to bring Judon to Buffalo. If he were to get picked up, he could immediately slot in and help fill a team need.
Getting some extra juice out of him after a division rival let him go grants Buffalo another victory over Miami this season. Allowing Sanders to play at his position and bringing in some reinforcements for that room would be a huge win this late in the season.
Matthew Judon’s career numbers, and if Buffalo can pull off landing him
According to Spotrac, his base salary for the 2025 season is $1,255,000, which is just inside the Bills’ range for what they can pay a player. If the Bills claim Judon, they’d absorb just the proration of his salary for the final three weeks, putting it around $216,000 based on Spotrac’s numbers.
Buffalo currently has $1,898,990 in cap space according to Over The Cap, but they won’t be on the hook for the entire $1,255,000 if Judon is claimed. Instead, Buffalo would need to pay less than a quarter of that, since we’re entering Week 16, they’d get him on a discount.
Judon is a 10-year veteran who has played for the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, and, most recently, the Miami Dolphins. He’s played in 144 games with one interception, 20 passes defended, nine forced fumbles, 72 sacks, and 177 quarterback hits.
At this point in the season, moves like this are exactly how contenders separate themselves from everyone else. Buffalo needs a proven veteran who can win a few key snaps, generate pressure, and help stabilize a thin edge group when it matters most.
The Bills are poised to make another deep postseason run, and this is the kind of calculated gamble that makes too much sense to ignore. Judon wouldn’t just patch a roster hole; it could end up being one of the most important late-season decisions Brandon Beane could make.
