The Kansas City Chiefs helped themselves on Sunday by losing to the Tennessee Titans. Sure, it was as embarrassing as it gets; however, this loss helps move KC up in the 2026 NFL Draft. If they lose out, they’re looking like they could pick around that no. 10 overall pick range.

The only issue with the loss on Sunday to Tennessee is that it also helped the Chiefs’ biggest enemy, the Las Vegas Raiders, get an even better draft pick, too.

The Chiefs helped the Raiders get a better 2026 NFL Draft pick with a loss to the Titans

The Chiefs haven’t picked as high as No. 10 in some time. In fact, the last time, and only one of two times ever, that the Chiefs picked at No. 10 in the draft, they took a guy who’s on track to become the greatest player of all time in Patrick Mahomes. But they traded for that pick.

The Raiders were in a three-way tie for the first overall pick, with tie breakers existing, obviously. However, there are now only two teams tied for that No. 1 pick: the Raiders and the New York Giants, who almost beat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

With the Titans winning, they create a gap between the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, giving the Raiders a cushion in case they lose; they would still be in line to get a top-three pick. However, if Vegas loses out and the Giants win one of their two next games against the Dallas Cowboys, then Vegas will be in line to get that No. 1 pick. And, what’s even better for the Raiders, is that they play the Giants next week, so they really need to lose that game.

But if you’re the Chiefs, you aren’t necessarily worried about this – helping LV get a better pick. This is an organization that has messed up the draft process so many times over the last decade, it’s not even funny. The jury is still out on RB Ashton Jeanty, but he had a massive day Sunday against the Houston Texans. And tight end Brock Bowers is waiting to take the crown from Travis Kelce for best tight end in the league.

Other than those two picks as of late, the Raiders haven’t been good. The Chiefs helped them get into a better position for the 2026 NFL Draft, but at the same time, this isn’t something KC should be worried about, especially since the two teams will be targeting different positions with their first picks.
