The Tennessee Vols landed one of the biggest hidden gems of the 2025 recruiting cycle in three-star cornerback Ty Redmond.

Redmond, who was thrust into a starting role after Rickey Gibson went down with a season-ending injury in Week 1, went through some growing pains as a true freshman during the 2025 season. But the Georgia native continued to improve and was named a first-team All-American by The Athletic at the end of the season.

Did the Tennessee Vols find their next Ty Redmond?

Tennessee continued its stellar cornerback evaluations during the 2026 recruiting cycle by landing three-star cornerback Jamyan Theodore, a player that 247Sports national recruiting analyst Tom Loy believes could be in the NFL one day.

“The 6-0, 175-pounder was a very talented high school receiver, but I believe his future is brightest in the secondary,” wrote Loy. “His ability to run, high-level ball skills, hands, and versatility makes him a player the Tennessee staff is fired up about. He’s a guy that I see one day playing in the NFL as well.”

Theodore, who is originally from Canada, played high school football at Baylor School in Chattanooga. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 80 cornerback in the nation and the No. 28 player in the state of Tennessee.

The Vols are certainly hoping they won’t have to play a true freshman at cornerback in 2026 (Gibson and Redmond are in line to start in 2026). Theodore, though, could be a candidate to see early playing time if a need at cornerback arises during the 2026 season.

Regardless of how much action Theodore sees next fall, one thing is certain — Tennessee is nailing its cornerback evaluations as of late.
