Former Ohio State football player who Brian Hartline recruited is heading back to the transfer portal for a second time
The former Buckeye is leaving the ACC for another opportunity.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will soon have the transfer portal to deal with while they hope to still be in the College Football Playoff. The portal opens on Jan. 2, and the Buckeyes would be preparing for the winner of Georgia and Ole Miss if they can beat the Miami Hurricanes.
Ohio State has had one player make his intentions known that he will be entering the portal and that is WR Bryson Rodgers. With the exit of Brian Hartline to South Florida, that could be the logical step for Hartline. However, Rodgers won’t be the only Buckeye or former Buckeye who is a possibility for USF.
Former Ohio State WR Noah Rogers to enter the transfer portal again
According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, former Buckeye and current North Carolina State WR Noah Rogers is entering the transfer portal after playing in the ACC for the last two seasons. Rogers played the 2023 season in Columbus with the Buckeyes before transferring to NC State. Now that Rogers is in the portal again, a step down in competition to South Florida could make sense.
Rogers was a member of the 2023 class and the No. 8 wide receiver out of North Carolina in that class. While with the Buckeyes, Rogers played in two games as a true freshman in 2023, but did not register a catch. The 6-foot-2 wideout was able to get going at NC State last season with 478 receiving yards and a touchdown in 13 games. As a redshirt sophomore, Rogers had 33 catches, 441 receiving yards, and two touchdowns during the 2025 season.
For at least the 2026 season and probably even 2027, Hartline is going to need to use the transfer portal heavily at USF. With Alex Golesh at Auburn and Hartline now in at South Florida, there’s been plenty of roster turnover to work through. Reconnecting with a player he’s familiar with and one that could produce at USF seems like it should be on the radar for Hartline. Don’t be surprised if the former Buckeye is daunting green next season.
