Key player from Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV run selected as modern-era finalist for 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame
The next stop for former Chiefs OLB/DE Terrell Suggs? Canton, Ohio.
A one-time member of the Kansas City Chiefs was selected as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a second consecutive year. Will this be the year that the committee recognizes him and immortalizes him with the rest of the NFL’s all-time greats?
In just his second season of eligibility, former Chiefs pass-rusher Terrell Suggs has been selected as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Suggs will almost certainly be remembered more for his 16 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, yet he finished his NFL career as a Super Bowl LIV champion. The Chiefs claimed Suggs on waivers after he requested his release from the Arizona Cardinals. Upon joining Kansas City, he helped transform the team’s pass-rush and run defense down the stretch and into the playoffs. His first and only sack for the Chiefs came against Chargers QB Philip Rivers in Week 17, but his impact went well beyond the box score. He brought Super Bowl experience to the roster, having won Super Bowl XLVII with the Ravens back in 2012.
Over the course of his NFL career, Suggs appeared in 244 regular-season games. He tallied 139 sacks, which is good for eighth place on the official all-time list. He also notched 202 tackles for loss, an all-time career record. He had 37 forced fumbles, 15 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, 63 passes defended, and three defensive touchdowns to go along with those marks.
Suggs appeared in just five combined regular and postseason games in Kansas City, recording a sack, a tackle for loss, a pass defended, and several pressures. Assuming he doesn’t take any cues from Philip Rivers, the Chiefs will be his last stop en route to Canton, Ohio, whether that comes this year or sometime in the future.
What comes next for Terrell Suggs and other modern-era Hall of Fame finalists?
Before Super Bowl LX, the Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee will evaluate the modern-era finalists to elect up to five players for enshrinement. Each player must receive a minimum 80% vote to be selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Class of 2026 will officially be revealed to the public during the NFL Honors ceremony in San Francisco, ahead of Super Bowl LX. They’ll be enshrined in Canton in August.
