NFL insider drops noteworthy update on the Cleveland Browns that might be a sign of what is soon going to happen
Change could be on the horizon for the Cleveland Browns with head coach Kevin Stefanski.
The Cleveland Browns are coming off a 13-6 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 that marked win No. 4 on the season. For Cleveland, it was also their first win since Nov. 23 when they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders.
There hasn’t been much winning for the Browns this season, mainly due to how bad the offense has been. The lack of compliments football has been a real issue in Cleveland, with an elite defense always aiming to keep it in games. With just seven wins over the last 33 games and two seasons, head coach Kevin Stefanski is undoubtedly on the hot seat.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler’s coaching update for the Browns is key
“Cleveland, Las Vegas, those are two places I see as, like, they’ve done their preliminary research for a potential move,” Fowler said recently. “Doesn’t mean they’re locked into doing it, or they’ve decided yet. But those are certainly on the radar.”
According to Fowler, the Browns have done work on potential candidates, which suggests they at least think about moving on from Stefanski. The Browns’ head coach is 44-56 with the team over the last six seasons. Stefanski is just 7-26 in the last two seasons. Cleveland hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2023 season and has twice in Stefanski’s tenure. Stefanski opted earlier this season to give offensive play-calling duties over to offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, which wasn’t a great sign.
It isn’t a sure thing that the Browns will move on from the head coach they’ve had around since the 2020 season. The Browns have at least done work on potential replacement options if they were to make such a move. We will find out in less than a week if Week 18’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals will be Stefanski’s last.
